directed/cinematography/edited by TbD written by Faith Elie narrated by author Martin Olson soundtrack by Harison Zamparela SYNOPSIS: It is unclear how self-mutilation became a tradition in the Festival of the 9 Emperor Gods that is only practiced in Phuket, Thailand's adaptation of the festival. Some believe that it may be borrowed from the Hindu's Thaipusam festival in neighboring Malaysia. Director Dorenfeld gets an intimate look through his lens in what he considers an Embedded Documentary, where he asks no questions, interrupts and stages nothing, and instead flows with the participants of the festival as if he was one and the camera was his eyes. SYNOPSIS: A young man without ambition would like to know why his girlfriend kicked him out of her car in the middle of the night in bum-fuck East Los Angeles. Without his phone, no wallet, no house keys, this guy has got to tread the pavement 20 miles across Los Angeles dodging soulless lives looking to feed off his own lack of interest in anything besides a regular job instead of any sort of TV value that consumes the Los Angelian.
